What to check before you book a compact suv

Higher ground clearance helps on rough or snowy roads, but an SUV is not automatically four-wheel drive. Check the drive type.
Fuel use is noticeably higher than in a compact car, so budget for it on long trips.
Wide bodies can be awkward in medieval town centres and multi-storey car parks.
